Our road trip to Madrid.
To test how to drive from Rotterdam to Spain with dogs and furniture, we decided to go by car on our 2-weeks holiday Madrid. We thought we needed three days because of the stops we wanted to make every two hours for walking and feeding the dogs. Also Karel had to get his medication and ointment in his eye, twice a day. But finally we did our road trip to Madrid in two days.
At 11.30 we left Rotterdam on Friday the first “official ice-day” since March 2013 . Next time we will leave earlier, because now we got stuck in the Friday afternoon traffic around Paris.
Our first overnight stop was after 1.026 km in the city Bordeaux. Johan booked the Ibis-hotel in the city-centre, where dogs were allowed and there was a guarded parking, so we could leave our MAC-computer inside the car. Including French breakfast (no eggs!!), parking and dogs it cost us 109 euros. At the end of the holiday we want to calculate the difference between going to Madrid or Ibiza by car or by plane, with dogs and some furniture.
During our trip we “played” with our new SONY Action Camera. The results will follow soon on our YouTube channel.
We arrived in Madrid around 16:00 o’ clock with 13 degrees, cold but sunny. After unloading the car and first a Cafe con Leche (Coffee with Milk) and Tarta de Zanahoria (Carrot Cake) on the terrace of La Musa Latina, Johan brought the car across the river Rio Manzanares, where there is free parking. The beautiful walk back to the apartment is only 20 minutes.
