More handy than dandy.
We needed some help with the constructions. Johan is handy, I am more dandy. So we invited my sister Claudia and her handyman husband Pieter-Jan to help us for a week and in return we paid their flights and I cooked (with the help of my sister). PJ just started his own business “DutchPJ klus- en dienstverlenend bedrijf”. We would work in the mornings and planned for sunbathing in the afternoon.
But it was the coldest week ever. Poor Claudia and PJ.
To give our place more room to live the fireplace had to be taken out. Easier said then done. The boys had to break away lots of cement and stones and finally we did not get rid of the black soot on the wall.
It started raining and water came through the chimney. So as soon it stopped raining, PJ climbed on the roof to put cement in the pipe. And a new “sombrero” for the fireplace in the living, which we were using often, because the March-nights were cold.
Claudia was putting oil on the new furniture from La Silla. After two days breaking away the fireplace Johan and PJ started with creating a soundproof wall. We will be living in the Guesthouse, which is next to the bedroom of the Mainhouse, which we are renting out.
On their last day it was raining again, so the guys decided to break away the 3-year old kitchen to make space for a shiny white IKEA-kitchen with a new oven and fridge. And finally a dishwasher, which was requested by many renters.
Claudia and PJ stayed for 1 week. It was their first time on Ibiza. They had five days of rain and wind. Luckily we had lots of fun. And two days of sun. More pictures of their leisure time in a next post!
