Finally … Our Big Move.
I really had a hard time cleaning up the storage room. It was so fully packed, we could hardly open the door.
Through a Facebook page “Nederlanders op Ibiza” we found a transport company M & R Transport, specialized in transports from Holland to Ibiza. They charged 125 euros per m3, for picking it up in Rotterdam and bringing it to our village La Revista. The truck was planned for Tuesday around noon and Monday morning I still had to go through one third of the boxes. But when Johan called Mario to ask how we had to pack the big MAC-computer (answer: in blankets), Mario opted to pick up the boxes on Tuesday or Thursday. Of course I demanded Thursday, I needed more time.
“I know you want Thursday, but this does not mean you can slow down!” Johan said.
“But I can’t throw away my diaries and drawings and photos!” I wined.
“Are you ever going to play these 60 old VHS-tapes?”
“Well let me first see what’s on it ….” and again I needed more time.
Wednesday morning Johan really got tired of my leisurely work. He went to the storage room, reviewed my boxes and decided if he would throw things away, while I was busy with putting 10 years of Christmas decorations in three big plastic boxes which did not even fit.
Suddenly I felt relieved. I did not peek inside the boxes Johan was throwing away. We were starting a totally new life. Why look back to my old life? Before lunchtime we were finished!
In the afternoon we went through our clothes. For years my sister Claudia and her husband PJ like our clothes for their own use or for their friends. Their friends even ask for “De zak van Max“, that is how they call it. This time we had 18 bags with clothes and shoes for Claudia and PJ.
The moving boxes went from the scheduled 15 to 34 boxes! And the house where we will live on Ibiza is the Guesthouse, which is one fifth of the whole total space. How will this all fit there? We called Mario if 34 boxes were fine instead of 15. Luckily it was OK!
Thursday at noon Mario and Ronald arrived and in 20 minutes the boxes were in their trailer, on their way to Ibiza. Total price: 400 euros.
Saturday morning at 10:00 they would arrive at our door on Calle Mural number 4.
I was up at 07:00, walked the dogs and enjoyed the first sunlight. Johan soon followed. We started to clean and drank the last two sachets of instant Nescafé coffee.
Johan went to the Lidl in Sant Josep for groceries and made me an egg and avocado breakfast.
Lunchtime. No boxes. I sent Mario a text message. No answer.
At 01:00 I called him, but I got his voice mail.
Then we saw some news on Facebook: they had arrived on Ibiza with delay.
Finally they arrived at 04:00 in the afternoon. Around 05:00 it already gets humid, so we had to hurry to get all boxes inside. But we made it.
Respect for Mario and Ronald who helped us from their car, off the stairs to our front door.
