Opening party Destino.
Friday the 29th of May was the opening party of Destino, the resort and dance club of the Pacha Group. Our friend Riks is staying there a few days that week, so we already sat at the beautiful pool and saw his (small) room. He first booked the room online for 1 night for 150 euros, but when he wanted to book an extra night at the reception he suddenly had to pay 300 euros for the extra night. So he booked the 2nd night online again.
At the stylish reception we saw the flyer for the opening party that week and we decided to buy 3 tickets. Saturday Johan has to work in the store, but this party started at 5 PM and ended around 11 PM. So enough time to sleep before Johan’s work.
I already went around 6 PM with Riks. We waited for the free busses from the entrance of the Pacha discotheque, but when they did not pass by, we asked inside where the stop was. The girl told us the busses started around 7 PM. So we walked to the Destino resort. A nice 40 minutes walk along Talamanca beach, through Jesus to Cap Martinet.
The resort is gorgeous, beautiful entrance and reception hall, lovely swimming pool with all sorts of beds, lots of palm trees and a view on Ibiza’s Dalt Vila. Under the stage are the most beautiful toilets I ever saw!
At the door we bought 15 drink vouchers of 10 euros. For each voucher you could order 1 drink, all the same price. Would you order with cash money at the bar, the soda drinks are 8 euros, the beers 11 euro and the cocktails are 14 euros.
Riks and I chose a big round bed near the jacuzzi. We both drank a few glasses of Wodka Redbull before Johan arrived at around 8 PM. Johan was drinking Gin Tonic. Getting our drinks at the bar was from the beginning a big problem. Too less staff working and not at every bar you could pay with the vouchers. Sometimes it took 20 minutes before you had your drinks.
And the worst was that all soda drinks were sold out around 10:30 PM except coca cola. So we had to mix our wodka and gin with coke.
The sunset was so beautiful. We were getting hungry, so we ordered 3 hamburgers with fries. We had to wait two hours before they finally arrived and they were very small and 25 euros each.
We saw some friends from Ibiza, friends from Holland who were on holiday and in the apartment above our day bed singer Dinand Woesthoff from Kane, his beautiful wife Lucy Hopkins and some friends were watching the show.
Just before midnight Lutz, a friend of us, suggested to go just a little bit earlier to the exit before everybody was leaving and ask for a taxi. But the line of people waiting for a taxi was so long, that we walked to Jesus and got a taxi there.
It was a lovely night, because the resort is beautiful and the music was great and we had fun. But how foolish when a five star resort expects 7.000 people coming to their opening party and you don’t have enough drinks!
