Wedding pics: the dinner.

After the reception we had a dinner with 60 people. First Johan had a surprise speech to the guests.
“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” he started.
I looked at him. Where is this going to, I thought.
“Well something old I already have, look next to me!” and everybody was laughing, except me of course.
Then he gave a toast and a big welcome to all our guests. He was so happy to see his sister after a long time and our five friends from Madrid, who arrived already two days before.
During the dinner my father had a speech with a small Spanish part at the end: Queridos chicos, os deseamos un buen futuro y esperamos que os quede tempo parta vernos de vez en quando en Holanda o Espana.
Our friend Ricky – Johan’s best man – sang Frank Sinatra’s “That’s why the lady is a tramp” and everybody got already in the party mood.
And Davide, our Italian friend who lives already for 6 years in Madrid, wrote a modern poem for us:
Si el amor tuviera un tiempo,
latiría de respiros contenidos,
en una habitación oscura,
que no salga el sol.
Brazos tendidos en hielo de un calor antiguo, perdido.
El sonido de un sonido por los pasillos musgosos de una villa derrocada.
Es guerra y almohadas, alas y sangre ese yo , hasta hace poco y ese tu, que ya no eres.
Pero no hay tiempo.
Ese infinito finito es vuestro
And then there was food. Nice Spanish food made by Restaurant Destino.
For our wedding dinner we chose the following starters: shells of the season, open baked with thyme, rosemary and black pepper, morcilla (blood sausage) with red fruit compote, avocado with sweet red pepper jam and dried tuna and pimentos padron with sea salt.
And for the main course we chose: cod with cauliflower puree and dried capers or beef with shallot gravy and celery cream served with pumpkin fries with sage mayonnaise, fresh salad with endive, arugula, pine nuts and herbs and of course roasted vegetables with Romesco sauce (cold roast tomato sauce, almonds and ñora pepers).
And for desert: a glass of muscatel with a piece of goat cheese, fig bread, nuts, dried fruit, chocolate and turron.
To be continued.
One more blog-post of the wedding is coming! One post a lot of you are very curious about: the wedding party! We try to pick the pictures this weekend!
Happy Easter weekend to you all.
