Orgullo Madrid: the parade!.
This was our second Madrid “Orgullo” (Gaypride). Like last year we first got together at Plaza de la Paja just three minutes walk from our house at Calle Alfonso VI and met the rest of the boys at metro station Anton Martin.
After that we went shopping at “El Chino” (the supermarkets ran by Chinese people) for beers, Sangria and bags with ice cubes.
Like last year we found a place to sit and drink at El Fuente de Neptuno (The Fountain of Neptune), at Plaza de Canovas del Castillo, opposite The Palace Hotel. There are enough trees for shadow and grass to sit on.
That day it was 41 degrees! Fire men were squirting water over the superheated crowd.
Because I was still in pain from my accident on the 2nd Gaypride day, I sat most of the time on a wooden bench in the shadow, so this year no pictures of the crazy dressed people.
Before the last wagon passed by, I already went home. On my way home I saw the last wagon and right after that, the cleaning of the road. Two million tourists make a lot of garbage! The next day the streets looked like nothing had happened.
